First off, it isn't a Lie Nielsen or a Veritas, so it is more than a $100 cheaper than they are. Which is always a plus. 2nd it is just as pretty as the aforementioned. 3rd it came ready to use right out of the box, after you wiped it down. The cutter or blade is suitably thick and came sharpened and ready to go to work. I have used it to joint a board , smooth a board, plane highly figured maple, cherry, walnut and oak with out any blow out or chip out, it has performed each task at a high level. I am very impressed with this plane and highly recommend it.

Been wanting one for a long time, and this one had the right price, and it was new. The only possible flaw is a very slight wiggle in the handle. Almost too slight to notice, I figure I can fix it with a leather shim or something like that. Really, it is a very sweet plane.

Great plane, perfect right out of the box and a pleasure to use. Many times a hand plane must be tuned before use. Not this one.

This is an excellent design. The low angle blade is perfect for specialized work. These planes are uncommon and will easily become a center piece to a tool collection.

The plane has good weight and with a sharp blade cuts extremely well. I use it almost always on my shooting boards.
