The main reason I purchased this kit is because I watched my 7 year old open the gate to my truck and almost knock out my 4 year old daughter. Thank goodness the gate missed her. My truck is a 2013 Chevy Avalanche a and this kit worked perfectly. Easy install, 5 minutes tops and function just like it said it would. I’m very happy with the purchase and performance of the product, highly recommend it. Plus it’s nice to know if the gate slips out of my hold it won’t go slamming down, it just glide to the full open position. The hydraulic strut does not interfere with shutting of the gate, very easy.

Pretty easy to put together just pay close attention to the instructions for the blind insert which expands to attach to the hole in your tailgate. Very simple to install and works great. No more worry about dropping the tailgate when trying to open one handed with arms full of lumber. Just flip the latch and it will easy down. Very nice and great price. I do not know how it lasts but I will follow up.

I love the DeeZee tailgate assist. GM's OEM version of the slow open tailgate contains a plastic bushing. Replacement cost is $30. I'll go with the DeeZee version every time. A few bucks cheaper, and I fully expect it will last the life of my truck. Great Purchase, absolutely love this product. Took about 15 minutes from opening the box to complete install.
