I have had radiant floor heat in the bathroom for several years. During one of our recent storms, we had a number of problems with the electrical power that included two total outages and several short cutoffs. There is a good likelihood that there were surges as well. In any case, the display on the NuHeat Solo Thermostat was left flashing and no combination of operations with the buttons would stop it and bring back the regular screen. I tried shutting off the breaker and that did not help either, so I assumed that the power fluctuations had probably destroyed the thermostat. I looked on-line and found out that NuHeat no longer manufactures the Solo Thermostat, but recommends its' replacement with the NuHeat Home model. As I wanted to ensure proper fitment, I ordered the NuHeat Home. It was offered on eBay at a competitive price and it was delivered promptly. Installation was easy - basically removal of the Solo and installing the Home. The floor temperature sensor did not have to be changed. I was very pleasantly surprised at how easy it is to program and use the new Home model as opposed to the Solo that was being replaced. It has an easy to read display and the time is prominently displayed, which is a nice feature when you are "up" during the night. I like the new Home model much better than the Solo model that it replaced due to its' ease of use and attractive display.Read full review
