Hard To Read Data and the Screen is HUGE.
I've had a LaCrosse weather station for 10 years. It was a previous model that included a solar powered sensor (that's mounted outside to read the data). Unfortunately it was constructed using solar charged batteries which are apparently non-replaceable, thus rendering the entire system useless when they no longer charge. I bought this model without fully researching it based on price alone. Although it seems to be as accurate in measuring data, there's two major flaws in my opinion: The display is HUGE (at least when compared to my previous model). It's as large as an iPad and not as easily disguised wherever you place it. Secondly, you cannot read the data unless you either get your eyes within a foot of the display, or illuminate the screen manually by pushing the button on the side of the unit which you have to feel around for. The old model had a lighter background and the data was easy to see, even from a few feet away. That said, this was a good value and at least when the batteries wear out, they can be replaced.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Junk LaCrosse product (S88907 Weather Station.
Ordered two (2) units, one will synchronize with Remote unit if within 20 - 30 feet. Second unit will synchronize but won't remain synchronized even in same room 4 feet apart. That means NO outside temperature display. Called La Crosse customer service and was told "my problem was the indoor unit and remote unit will not synchronize, try putting In-door unit and remote unit 3 feet apart". Tell me you're kidding. . . No she wasn't kidding. If that's the customer service support what can you expect from the company quality control. Absolute NO Integrity at all. From the other customer comments other people are having the same problem. The display is OK at night but difficult to see during day time. Display only works when viewing straight on, not at an angle. You can forget battery operation, unless you can pick the unit up and press the button on the side to restore display. Great device when plugged in
The color and graphics on the device are great. The only negative is that if you want to use it on batteries only, the screen is not constantly on and you need to push a button for the screen to come on for a set period of time. Simple but clear screen!
This is a replacement as I found out with the old unit once I received this one that the remote sensor had failed. Although protected from direct sunlight, it must have gotten baked and failed. Rather than fooling around with the old since the price of a reconditioned unit was so cheep, I got the new unit in pristine condition. I then found that both of the base units work off the sensor, so now I can check the temperatures from my den upstairs or the kitchen/living room downstairs. Takes some time and directions are not very clear and we have science backgrounds....took 1 hour plus to set up. Works as advertised
I bought one of these and liked it so much, I ordered three more! The temp and humidity readings are accurate. The display is easy to read and eye catching. I like the fact that the display operates on a power supply (included), and uses two AA's for backup so you wont lose your settings if decide to unplug it and move to another spot.
