If you have Chromecast, you can even control your TV without the need for a remote control with Google Home Smart Assistant. You can tell it what channel or service you wish to view and the smart assistant device handles the rest. Some of other applications you can access include ordering food from connected establishments, requesting transportation and receiving status updates for any tasks or appointments you have scheduled. You can even order food and products through the device to have them delivered to your door. The Google Home Smart Assistant is compatible with more than 1,000 smart home devices, including Insignia, TP-Link, Philips Hue, Samsung SmartThings, and Nest. This makes it possible to find information and make command, such as asking it if the front doors are locked or what the temperature is in the baby's room. You can also be in another room in the house, such as the bedroom, and ask Google Home to turn on the coffee maker or slow cooker. In addition to the features mentioned, the Google Home Smart Assistant also includes an alarm clock that you can set to go off with music or an alarm. Cool gadget
Google has created a nice device that provides music and information by voice control. The microphone is very good and will usually pick up commands from across the room. The speakers sound surprisingly good for such a small device. I wish it had tone control though. It will stream Pandora, YouTube music, Spotify and Google Play Music. You do need to have a paid subscription to play specific songs on request. I subscribed to the YouTube Music app and it is pretty good. With Google Home, there are no surprises
I researched differences between the Google Home & other brands. I chose the Google Home because it had more a personality. She tells jokes, remembers things you've said, when asking multiple questions & in my opinion, was a lot prettier. With just a little research, you'll easily find the one PERFECT for you !!! For playing music, another brands cheaper device has a tiny speaker, their medium priced device is not voice activated & their comparable device costs much more. It works OK
Given the point it's at in it's development it works well. Spotify has some serious issues and the Personal Assistant side is not yet well-developed but for a type of product that's at it's introductory stages it's faring well.
