  • Impressive feature set for entry level low cost oscilloscope.

I got it to view I2C communications in decoded trace through protocol analyzer. I was not putting a lot of hopes, but now I find it impressive as a replacement of any analog scope in everyday lab for signals running at below 50MHz. The feature and measurements included are great, the analog persistence on display is appealing, and best of all, it can be remotely controlled through National Instrument tools over Ethernet. A less convenient remote scope panel is also available and may be very handy. The scope does not have a trigger input and operates its triggering exclusively from the samples of ADC. When not all memory is used for a single shot, the scope combines several traces for "better resolution". They are using some post-acquisition trace alignment, so in this mode one may see weird pictures on display in some corner cases, but for baseline measurements it is fine. I thought it was using a more sophisticated front end amplifiers as in other 1xxx series, but this one is pretty baseline. The sampling rate with 3 or more channels is 250Msa.s, so it is good that the bandwidth is limited by ~70-100MHz. In summary - this is a great instrument for hobbyist, student, maker and everywhere when working with mid-speed analog and digital circuits and Arduino-style microcontrollers.

  • Wonderful Tech Equipment

What can I say, the Rigol 1054Z is the best selling entry level Oscilloscope in the world. This has a feature rich operating system that is almost unbelievable. With all of the options turned on and the firmware updated it can do almost anything that the antique radio and television amateur and professional technician could want. I will be satisfied with the Rigol 1054Z for a long time. There are many videos on the operation of this oscilloscope on YouTube and any questions that you have can and will be answered on a myriad of forums such as the eevblog forum. Enjoy this nice piece of equipment. Aloha from Maui

  • Excellent starter oscilloscope

I haven't had a chance to use all the features but it's a well built machine that does everything I ever want for my electronics hobby lab. It's a great starter oscilloscope.

  • Great scope for the money.

I've used good equipment and I've used cheap equipment. Of the value equipment I've used, the Rigol certainly gives you the best value for the money. And the deep deep memory depth makes PWM-type measurements easy. Definitely worth the investment. I recommend highly.

  • great hackable value scope

This is one of the best values for hobbyist scope around. it is easily upgraded to 100MHz version which is exactly the same product physically. even as a 50MHz scope it is wonderfully usable for most people. the sampling rate and memory depth is better than pro scopes of a couple of decades ago. very capable for all but very high frequency work which is beyond beginners. the 4 channels may be more than most need but if you ever do automotive work, you can use this scope easily. excellent hobby scope.

  • Quite pleased with the bells and whistles for the price.

If you are used to high cost scopes, you can see subtle things such as the responsiveness of the display to the position knobs but for the price you can't beat it. I am using it as a home hobby scope and I am thrilled with it. It is way better than getting a 1980s or 90s used scope for the same price in my mind. I've only had it for a month so I don't know how the "cheapness" will manifest itself with time. I'm crossing my fingers.

  • RigolDS1054Z

The oacilloscope has nice functionality and features. Build quality in also good The only drawback is Rigols trick to "downgrade" the scope and charge you extra for software options that are already built-in. Specifically the rs232 , I2C and SPI protocol decoder . The scope can also sample in a deeper buffer , but they "detuned" it and force you to buy a license to utilise this option.

  • Excellent scope for the money

I had always wanted a 4 channel scope, but back in my day they were out of reach, too costly. I finally broke down and purchased the Rigol DS1054Z. I have already had a Rigol DS1052, and I have really enjoyed it. When I got the chance to play around with the DS1054; I was thoroughly impressed. Many features, nice large colorful screen, and typical Rigol quality. Excellent scope for the money.
