So far, so good.
This wasn't to bad to install. Locking ring took a little bit of effort. Haven't had it installed very long, but works as it should.We'll see how to goes in the long run. Unlike others, this didn't have an Allen wrench access under the bottom, not sure if there is one under the electrical access or not. the 1 grade up power is a lot better then the one I had before. I had a 1/3 and now this is the 1/2 and it's has a little more power and the size is the same as the one I had before and didn't add any extra space under the counter. GE puts out the BEST!! I have always been a faithful customer of GE Disposall. No other gives such DURABILITY and no other provides a REMOVABLE RUBBER SPLASH-GUARD so that it can be thoroughly cleaned after each use and even replaced when worn. REPLACED 1/3 HP QUIETER BADGER WITH THIS PART FAILED LOSER.
Purchased from this site on 8.20.2016 and it failed this last weekend. Impeller rivet blew off, unstable now. Since it was a credit card buy, it doubled my warranty, so covered. Taken back by my quieter old 1/3 HP Badger that lasted 10 years that has very poor reviews[!?]. Not sure will buy this as a repeat for the extra hassle of a reinstall, but the measurements line up exactly now.

Remarkably quiet disposal.
The disposal that came in the house sounded like a tank driving through the kitchen. It wasn't a make or break issue, but it was obnoxiously loud. This unit spins up smooth and quiet. The 1/2 hp is a bit more powerful than the 1/3 hp unit that it replaced. The new GE disposal doesn't sound like it has been stressed with anything I have run through it.
