This will work OK for me in the garage, now that I have it, but I should have gotten another Makita DML801 instead like I have at work. The DML is a great shop work light. The 815 is not near as bright and is a more concentrated light, rather than an actual work light. I should mention that it is also about half the price. I do love my Makita products though.

Not the best & brightest but good enough. Great deal for under $30 from a known reputable brand.

This LED Flashlight is a lot brighter than the older style light with a single bulb. They last so much longer too. Although some models are a bit pricey, I'm thinking (Hoping) that they'll last for a long time, just like the original Makita Flashlights. I still have the original one but I'm getting spoiled with the 4-LED Bulbs in this one. They do make a couple versions of this model. This one has the 4 LED Bulbs that are either on or off. The other model has 2 or 3 different modes, so you do have to check them out to make sure it's what you want. Since all my flashlights are for automotive use, I doubt I'll need to have a flasher or the red light, so with that said, check em out. So far I have 6 Makita Flashlights. 7 if I count the one with the single bulb. So whenever I get involved with working on any of the vehicles, one thing is sure, I have plenty of light to work with. It makes working under the vehicle a lot easier & when working under the hood, I can work with zero shadow, which is great since shadowing can cause problems.....Read full review

ON/OFF switch did not work on this light I received. When you press the switch the light flashes but will not stay on. This seems to be a reoccurring problem not only with this model but I have had the same issue with other Makita model flashlights. I even returned one light for repair to Makita, when it was returned to me it worked properly for several months and is now doing the same thing. I believe this is a general problem with the same type of switch they use on most of their flashlight models. Wish they would fix the problem as I have several 18v batteries but can't seem to find a working light.

Very handy if you have the Makita batteries already.
