Ellen, an unknown female gunslinger rides into a small, dingy and depressing prairie town with a secret as to her reason for showing up. Shortly after her arrival, a local preacher, Cort, is thrown through the saloon doors while townfolk are signing up for a gun competition. The pot is a huge sum of money and the only rule: that you follow the rules of the man that set up the contest, Herod. Herod is also the owner, leader, and "ruler" of the town. Seems he's arranged this little gun-show-off so that the preacher, who use to be an outlaw and rode with Herod will have to fight again. Cort refuses to ever use a gun to kill again and Herod, acknowledging Cort as one of the best, is determined to alter this line of thinking, even if it gets someone killed. This movie uses lot's of ingredients used in classic westerns. It does it in a fun way but it doesn't spoof the classic westerns in any way and it never becomes humorous or a parody that makes fun of the genre. This movie is filled with some unusual but great Sam Raimi like cinematography and tricks. Enjoy and pay attention to the story. It is just entertainment.Read full review
One of the GREATEST Western movies I have ever seen. There is lots and lots of action -but the thing that makes this movie great is the script and the tremendous acting - convincing and exciting, Robert D. Jones

Sharon Stone plays a great part in this one! Actually so does Russel Crow, Gene Hackman, Leonardo DiCaprio... need I say more? Ok, so I have to say more. This is the story of a young woman (Stone) who grew up in the Wild West and was traumatized when, as a little girl, her father was killed. Stone spends her adult years (those that we know about) as a gun-slinging rebel, searching out the man (Hackman) she holds responsible for her father's death. Stone finds Hackman in a powerful position, running a gunfighter contest and takes the opportunity to exact her revenge. An interesting storyline unfolds, interwining the lives of the four main characters in a complex way. Many surprises arise throughout this movie, and it is packed full of typical old-west action. Stone, of course, sleeps with one of her competitors; however, props to the director for being tasteful and not showing typical Stone sex scenes. This movie is a favorite of mine. Q&D offers a refreshing perspective on the classic gunslinger movies with an original script and top-notch acting, but still gives enough action to placate the die-hard gunslinger fans. GUYS: this is the ONLY gunslinger movie you are OK to make your girlfriends watch, you will BOTH enjoy this one!Read full review
Fairly entertaining low-budget film with a lot of expensive actors and a nonsensical plot. Sharon Stone is a female gunfighter who has come to this town run by an "over-lord" type person, Mr. Harrod (Gene Hackman). He gets half of every dollar spent, and sponsors a gunfight - Quick-draw contest. Prize is $123,000. Russell Crow is also in this movie, as a former gunfighter who has renounced violence, and now lives as a preacher. He once rode with Harrod and is being forced to participate. Leonardo DiCaprio is "The Kid", a super fast draw, who is reputed to be Harrod's illegitimate son. Stone is here to kill Harrod because he was responsible for her father's death when she was a child. The whole movie is just a series of gunfights with various ridiculous stories. Average movie.
