    Bad instructions make for almost impossible built. Don't buy this from Mobius Models.

    The instructions tell us to incorrectly make the spine, which holds the storage modules, too long. I did not discover this until after the metal supprt rod was glued into the Command Sphere and Propulsion Block. Tried to take apart to figure out the problem, but broke parts in the process. Bought a 2nd model to figure out the problem and custom correct to complete the model. Messaged seller. Manufacturer is aware of the problem. Please do not sell this model until the problems are corrected. Thank you 1 / 1                 Cargo Spine Lengths in the Instructions are incorrect After careful study of the instructions, photos and completed model and movie photos and I came to the following conclusions:   Fact: Each Cargo Module Bundle is the same Length as 1 “A” Module Bundle. Fact: The Correct Forward Spine area is the same length as 6 “A” Module Bundles. Fact: The Correct Rear Spine Area is the same as 4 “A” Module Bundles. The Correct Forward Spine area uses 1 long Cargo Module Support PLUS a little more (Which I custom cut & added to the correct measurement) to support the correct amount of Cargo Modules. The Instructions tells us to use 2 Longer Module Supports for the Forward Cargo Supports- which is incorrect! This would be too long. The Rear Spine Area uses 1 short Cargo Module Support for the correct amount of Cargo Modules. The instructions tells us to use a long cargo Support- which is incorrect! This would also be too long. The instructions do say to cut the metal support bar to the correct length, but this would not work for the desired outcome of the completed model. Following the instructions in this section will make it impossible for the model to have the correct dimensions! When I discovered the problem I tried to take the model apart to figure out why the lengths were not working and found that the glue holding the metal support bar, inside the Spine Area, held too strongly to take apart and I broke Spine Supports pieces trying to take it apart to correct whatever problems I found. The only solution was to buy another model. Them rebuild the model from scratch and customize the problem area very carefully. As you can see, following this plan has worked well.

    Highly detailed kits simply don't get much better than this Space Odyssey masterpiece!

    Another excellent 2001: A Space Odyssey injection molded kit from Moebius Models. Like its others, it has beautifully detailed parts and a very detailed plan sheet that is second to none! A welcome addition to any science fiction spaceship model collection. A+ in every way!

    Excellent kit

    This is simply a great model of the Discovery. It fits together nicely and the detail is superb. The only negative thing I can say about it is that some of the detail parts are very small. This can be annoying at times during assembly but the end result is worth it.

    A bit small.

    its a nice enuf kit but Im not gonna build it, I have instead bought the 1-44 scale, much larger version of this ship. Makes it easier to install lighting and effects into the build. Thats the reason I did not give it top ratings. Its just too small to fully capture the impact of Discovery XD-1.
