I read the reports before buying this printer and agree, it's one noisy puppy when getting ready to print. Sounds like it's killing itself but then settles down and does excellent quality document and photo printing. Printers are getting so big and this is nice and compact and fits my space very nicely. It certainly likes new Canon cartridges best After market refills seem to work reasonably well but the ink level features don't work and the ones I initially had did not register properly. The Canon CD for loading was useless but the web support is excellent and the software went in and fired up just fine. I'm beginning to like it more and more, right size, right performance for home use.

This is the second Canon PIXMA wireless printer we've purchased for our home, and so far it seems like another great investment. We've had some trouble with setting up the wireless connectivity on a slightly older laptop (circa 2014), but I had an extra cable on hand, which is very specific to the Canon printer, as it is USB on one end, and a unique kind of connector on the other. For now, the printer can be used with a cable. Haven't been able to troubleshoot to the extent that we can determine if it's the laptop that's the issue, but since my son is mostly using it at his desk for school, it's not a huge deal. The print quality is crisp, and as my son printed a large volume of pages while I was napping, I'd have to say it's relatively quiet.

PROS - Decent price, good print quality, 100-page duplexer, hybrid ink - (dye color, pigment black). CONS - Replacement ink cartridges are expensive. Although the printer is not cost prohibitive, the ink cartridges are expensive. I bought bulk inks to refill the original cartridges. Print quality is great and the (up to) 100-page duplexer is handy to print large documents with less paper. After trying the printer and refilling the ink, I would buy it again. I also recommend for people familiar with refilling ink cartridges. If your printing needs are minimal, you may find the cartridge ink prices acceptable. Either way, the print quality is very good.

like others say, its slow, noisy, but for what it costs, I am ok with it to use for small print jobs. it paired easy with my pc, but having problems pairing with smartphone 7. don't bother using the bundle software, its a trial thing. one warning I have never yet seen on printer safety, "This product emits low level magnetic flux. if you use a cardiac pacemaker and feel abnormalities, move away and call a Dr...

Even though the printer comes with a software CD, I don't have a CD drive on my small laptop. Not a problem. I went to the Canon website and downloaded the software which contained everything I needed including driver and the latest version. It is so nice to be able to print wirelessly from my laptop. So simple to set up and use. If I ever need another one, I'll surely buy another Canon.
