I bought this 4S in mid-2022 to add to my vintage iPhone collection. It's carrier unlocked and worked immediately with my existing Mint (AKA T-Mobile) sim card. Phone calls & wifi work perfectly. Internet access via data plan is slower since this is a 3G (not a 4G, 5G or LTE) device. But it actually streams Netflix OK on data after a while, although it took a minute or two to initially sync up. People LOVE seeing me use this "ancient" (2011) device, they call it tiny & cute. Of course it can't run a fair amount of modern apps. Mine came updated with iOS 9, which is the latest and has the best compatibility. Reviewers say it was faster on iOS 7 or 8, but of course fewer things are compatible there. Name your poison. 2022 may be the last year that 3G is supported by some network carriers, so I'll enjoy using it occasionally for the rest of the year, . Read full review

The battery when fully charged would not hold a charge longer than 8 hours. Fixed with a new battery for $50, the cost of the phone. Tried to download Pandora but it needs an operating system upgrade that is not available. A real bummer as I used Pandora all the time when working.
