I remember this movie from 1971 when it made its theatrical run. Got a lot of bad reviews. Only now I decided to watch it and found that it is a poor attempt at comedy/drama. It is a strange and confusing film that leads the viewer to nowhere. Only Barbara Harris stands out in this movie which earned her a best supporting actress nomination.

Warning! You will only appreciate this movie if you are older than fifty years old, which I am. The reason is that you’ll like seeing street scenes from 1971 when we were young. It’s like being back in time. Also, this film takes its time. Not like fast cutting of today, but those slow meaningful scenes that only the early 70s cared about. And finally, when you’re older than fifty, you are faced with looking back and regretting all the pain you caused in your past relationships, and that is exactly the gift that this movie delivers to folks over fifty. Seeing Dustin Hoffman beautifully deliver that authentic pain of regrets this story is about. You will enjoy this rare gem.
