Great replacement ice maker
The old ice maker (well, two+ years old) stopped working, so I ordered this unit, which installed fairly easily, and has been working like a champ ever since, keeping the ice bin full. Even before the old unit stopped working, ice would occasionally get stuck when it was being ejected into the bin, which would cause it to stop making ice until the jam was cleared. This meant we ran out of ice fairly frequently. So far, about two weeks post-installation, the new ice maker has not jammed a single time. Exact replacement, but still might be a poor design
The less than 2 years old ice maker would make loud clacking noise ( stripped gear ) when it was about to dump the ice into the ice bin. Some research suggested that this is a common problem with this Samsung ice maker. And ice would occasionally get stuck when it was being ejected into the bin, which would cause it to make even louder noise and stop making ice until the jam was cleared.
