Asus VG248QE review
Monitor is amazing, with a clean and sturdy look. However, for any buyer you should know you can only attain 144hz through a DisplayPort cable. Four stars only because the image color needs to be messed with a little bit and I feel like the control panel could be designed to be navigated better. At full price I don’t think I would of purchased this monitor, but at a discount this is one of the best 144hz monitors you can get. Bought this monitor after doing a search online of “best gaming monitors”. The picture quality is spot on. The height adjustment and swivel are great to have. It has a very high refresh rate (144 hz) so motion blur is nonexistent. It even has built in speakers ( although I am using my Boston Acoustics speaker system. ) Has HDMI, DVI and Display Port connections on it. You won’t be dissapointed when you have this gorgeous monitor on your desk. You’ll love the size of the screen and superior image quality. ASUS VG248QE 24" monitor provides a quality product, easy assembly, and intuitive controls and a reasonable price. Matter of fact, less expensive than some of the comparable well known monitors. Shipping was very reasonable and delivery was early. I assembled and installed easily. Configured my computer for a second monitor and was up and running in less than an hour. I am very happy with picture quality and refresh rate. The screen rotates easily to vertical display (which needs easy monitor config. adjustment on your part) for viewing or editing documents, especially useful for 17" legal documents. VERY good image quality; HUGE screen; easy to assemble base. Base swivels, screen can be viewed in portrait or landscape but the thing that made me select this one is the height adjustable (up and down) plus the tilt. Wearing bifocals this is essential! Many monitors do not have the height adjustment and I find this ridiculous - such a simple thing to do. Movies are great on this monitor - we do not do gaming so cannot speak to this but I am sure it is just as good. Only downside: we have a VGA desktop and the box included the DVI-i (I think that is what it is called) so I had to buy a HDMI cable to connect. Not being computer savvy this took research so I would even know WHAT to do. Time wasted and if this were explained in the description would have saved me much headache. Image quality is amazing. DisplayPort cable is required to take advantage of the 144hz the monitor has to offer. Settings need to be tweaked to fit your quality needs as default settings are not good at all. The speakers built in the monitor should not be your primary speakers as the sound quality is a little weak. Use headphones rather than the speakers. If you do not have 144hz even with the DisplayPort, change the resolution settings on Nvidia Control Panel (not sure what it is on AMD GPUs).Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned

Going from a great 24" led TV to the VG248QE is like going from black and white to color. This is my first gaming monitor and it looks awesome! With an HDMI cable @ 60hz it blows away any TV with colors that pop out. Then I hooked up a standard display port cable for 144hz refresh rate... WOW! My friend told me he has this monitor, and I was going to originally get a different one, but I am VERY happy with this one! I am a gamer & streamer, and I use this to play on. The colors are beautiful, very rich in color. The monitor also raises and lowers itself on the stand. I was worried it'd be too high, but you can adjust it, and it also turns vertically, which is awesome! Works well with console but i did have to purchase an additional piece in order for it to work thru display port but it is not required. Great gaming monitor for the price.
Pros: The 144hz refresh rate is great for high FPS gaming. Has HDMI, Display Port, DVI-D and an audio port for headphones. The audio for HDMI is decent. The color is great. Cons: It arrived with a small screen abnormality in the top right corner. I have two of these at home and now two at work. They are a tremendous monitor for the price. I have only had a few small issues with the Display port not recognizing signal with two of the 4 monitors from time to time. Overall really satisfied.
