Best In the Value category
The On Stage MS7701 is a standout among less expensive microphone boom stands. While there are several stands of very similar profile with better ruggedness and overall higher quality, they are substantially more expensive. There are also quite a few of similar price but far inferior quality. There are a few danger zones on a boom stand of this type. Many cheap units connect the boom arm to the vertical tube at a welded crimp in the vertical. This will not last much handling. The MS7701B includes a finished vertical tube with a 5/8" threaded end with memory ring. The Boom mounts with a similar threaded receptacle allowing for a strong tube to tube joint. The boom can be removed to use it as a straight stand. The locking nuts are metal screws with plastic knobs, not the most durable, but they are not cheaply constructed. The main clutch on the boom arm is a metal dumbbell type which is pretty solid, considering it will be the most manipulated joint of the stand. I have used a similar On Stage stand for years, taking it out on jobs all over, and it has stood the test of time with no failure. The older one was a bit more substantial in the choice of knobs and such, but the ones recently purchased seem to be basically the same in quality. The cable clamps are actually much improved in the new units. I would recommend this to anyone who is looking for a stand that will not receive a lot of transport and wear and tear. If you are careful with it, it will last a long time, and you will not find a better value in this price range.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Great for in home and on the go
