Does just what it claims to do
The pedal commander does just what it claims. It boosts the voltage signal from the throttle position sensor on your gas pedal to the servo on your throttle valve. It basically makes your gas pedal more sensitive. No more delayed response from the moment you press the gas pedal to the moment your engine reacts. It’s kinda like adjusting the sensitivity of the mouse in your computer. The higher the sensitivity, the more the throttle valve opens for any given amount of pedal depression. It’s incredible easy to install. It takes about 30 seconds minus the time to prep the plastic for the Velcro adhesive. I mounted mine on the dash plastic just below and to the right of the steering wheel. That makes it easy to conceal the wires. The alcohol wipe did not work very well at cleaning the dash plastic. Must have been because all the past coats of Armor-all. Once I wiped it with Acetone the Velcro adhesive held great. It’s been on there for 2 weeks and still holding strong. The only thing I can’t figure out is why the bluetooth? It has to be plugged inline with position sensor on the throttle pedal. There’s only one button to make adjustments. Why on earth would you need to bother blue toothing it? Unless you want to completely conceal the unit maybe??Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned

Fixes performance issue on 4 Runner
I was not sure if this was really going to work but it does. The 4 Runner, even with its V6 engine, lacks any responsiveness. To get it to go you have to completely floor it and even then there is a lag and slow build up to full power. The pedal commander on sport plus mode is like driving a complete different vehicle, immediate response and no lag time. I even spun the tires by accident reversing to park it in front of the house.
