Bought this Sabrent enclosure and a 240GB SSD for use as an external drive on a Windows 10 PC. The setup was a breeze - literally two minutes that included formatting the SSD - and the results were as desired. The write speed on my external SSD were slower than expected but that that is attributable to the bottle necks of the motherboard and the USB 3.0 etc. It's still faster than a USB 3.0 flash drive nonetheless. Sabrent Hard Drive Enclosure
The enclosure is plastic, has a slide off and on cover, no screws. It also has a light and an on and off switch. It's very nice for the price. I am not sure an aluminum case is really necessary, as the laptop generally doesn't encase it in aluminum, and in my case the hard drive was on the opposite side of the mostly plastic computer from the fan. The only problem I could see with the case being plastic is the possibility of breaking it by dropping it, or maybe breaking the slide on cover clips.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Great for external SSD
I bought two of them specifically for use with SSDs. On Windows 7 the performance is not optimal as the drivers for the USB 3.0 chipsets are either not available or hard to find. On Windows 10 the UASP driver is built in, and the performance is amazing. I get read/write speeds that are very close to the native SATA3 speed then I connect the SSD internally. Not an Aluminum Case But Still a Good Option
I use this case to house a Kingston 240gb SSD, which I have attached to my Nvida Shield TV. The drive fits in the case easily and is held snug by a small foam block inside the case and doesn't rattle around inside the case. The data cable that comes with the drive is super thick which allows data to flow easily and I assume helps keep the temp of the drive down. I would have preferred this to be an aluminum case because eSata drives can get pretty hot with prolonged use. I'd say for light duty use, this case is acceptable and I'm happy with it's performance however for power users, I'd recommend going with the Sabrent Aluminum case.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
