Although this may be the Weller economy model soldering iron, it still exhibits the superior Weller quality. I bought this to replace another iron that initially had good functionality, but over the years the quality of the replacement tips for it decreased to the point that they only lasted a very short time. This Weller iron has a menu of features, including the iron temperature and also a shutdown feature, if you inadvertently leave it on, like you get side-tracked with another project and forget to shut it off, it goes into a stand-by mode. The shutdown time period is adjustable from the menu. This model doesn't appear to have an "in-use" sensor that more expensive models have, but that's not a big deal for me.

Very nice unit. Have had Weller products for years and find them very reliable. New features also very nice for a upgrade. Keep up the excellent products Weller!

A nice and professional soldering station. I'm new to soldering but this was easy to pick up and use. I was able to get all the starting projects I needed to fix done and I didn't ruin them. It does go into standby and drop the heat quickly so putting it down and then waiting for it to heat back up is a pain, but I probably missed something in the manual. It's great to have nonetheless.

Very nice! I really like the adjustable temp setting and it's small footprint. Doesn't take hardly any space and heats up fast enough! Easy to change tips and seems to work very well. I definitely recommend this iron because it works great and the price is very reasonable and will not break the bank to buy it. Searching to get a better price always helps too!

The fit, finish, and quality is classic Weller, with the upgrade from 50 to 70 watts, this system covers quite a bit of ground. I'm comparing this system to their standard 50-watt analog system, and I like it better. The pen has a better feel, and no more sponge rubber handle to Frey or get messy. As an addition, the pen uses the standard tips as well, so no new parts there. The large digital display allows you to quickly dial in your temp, and it does a great job of holding it there as you solder. Heat up is fast, about 20 seconds or so. There are a lot of bells and whistles I don't need as a hobbyist, as I do mostly lighter electronics work, but keeping a consistent temp is of the upmost concern. All in all, it's a great system. I see this replacing the standard 50-watt analog systems Weller has made famous over the years, as this is a professional grade system that is truly versitile. Don't hesitate to order if you are in the market for a soldering system. Read full review
