  • It cuts like butter, but.......

This saw cuts great, but the only two issues I have with it are that the instructions recommend only 50 feet of #12 extension cord (who has trees to cut that are only 50 feet from the house?) and it intermittently will stop for no apparent reason. Not sure if the safety button is being depressed completely with my gloves on or if the trigger switch has a bad contact. Otherwise, it cuts like butter with plenty of power. I burned the brushes out of 2 competitors' saws cutting firewood for my shop in what I would call ideal situations, but this saw has held up for me aside from the 2 aforementioned issues. The intermittent stopping is more of a nuisance that anything else. I've been cutting hickory wood and taking it directly to the splitter. So far, I've cut and split about 2/3 cord of wood with this saw in 2 sessions. I would buy it again over any of its competitors.

  • Great saw, refurbishment is sketchy

This saw works great, seems to be well made, and should hold up. It has plenty of power, bearing down on it will not cause it to stall, so in that regard it performs similar to a small gas powered saw but without the smell, noise, vibration, pull starting, repairs, maintenance costs, and fuel/oil mixing. This saw was refurbished, so it came at a good price and with a lengthy list of items that were "factory checked off" to verify its satisfactory condition. Not on that list was a check of the chain tensioner which is evidently why the previous owner sent it back. I had to repair it before I could install a chain, which by the way, was supposed to be included but was overlooked. I'm still wating to hear from someone... Apart from all that I still like this saw and would recommend it.

  • Makita 16inch electric chainsaw

Makita is the best electric chainsaw in the market .It is very reliable it cut even some times better than my 16 inch stihl gas chainsaw .no noise and cuts strIght.I tried 24 inch diameter maple and it went through it of course I had to go around the log to cut it. The only thing I hate about it is the blade keeps getting loose no matter how tight you set it within 15 minutes you need to adjust the chain tensions . It got the job done like a champ.

  • gets the job done

this is my second unit (first one was stolen) and I like it a lot. I have oak, Chinese elm, and some crepe myrtle to trim and cut for indoor and outdoor fires. It's nice not to mess with fuel and trying to keep a gas unit idling when/if your elevated or on a ladder and have to get down to start it again, No more gas Homelite units for me. I use a 12 gauge extension cord to make sure there's minimal voltage drop.12" oak limbs take a bit extra time but it's nice and smooth. The chain is a bit narrower I'd say so less wood is being cut reducing the load on the saw. Nice tool-less adjustments as well.

  • Why didn't I do this sooner!

I just took delivery of this 16" electric chair saw and ran it through 2 large fallen madrona 8 to 10 inch limbs. The saw made short work of the project. After 35 years of messing with a variety of gas driven saws, I found this saw to be smooth, quiet and trouble free...and it cuts like a bugger! There is a bit of a learning curve to tighten the chain but after 10 minutes of screwin' around adjusting the tension, it was ready to go, I really liked the fact that the saw stops when the trigger is released. This is very handy when you have to lay the saw aside while you move the wood to a good cutting position. I live off the grid, so I ran the saw on a Honda 2000 watt generator with no problem. So far I am tickled pink with this Makita. If you are cogitating buying this saw, I say go for it.

  • Everything not included

Would have been nice if it came with a small bottle of the chain saw oil needed to use it immediately. I've put it together but haven't been able to purchase the oil yet to use it. So there lies the saw and the downed tree 😞

  • No need to pull starter ropes on gas chain saws and instant start/stop.

For an electric chain saw, it's a great product. I should have bought one years ago. I could no longer pull start gas chain saws.

  • Great feeling saw.

I had a cheaper corded chainsaw. This one is better quality. I have a bunch of other Makita tools. I love using it in the shop.
