Powerful, lightweight, portable, and great battery life - especially useful for people who are away from a power supply or don't want a cord in the way. We like the paddle switch on the grinder. It works great for short term grinding. Some people may prefer the 2781-20 with the slide lock on power switch for longer use applications. Highly recommend pairing with the Milwaukee M18 REDLITHIUM XC5.0 Extended Capacity Battery Pack - 48-11-1850 for use with this grinder - great balance of power, battery life, and weight. Larger batteries give longer use times, but add weight. Smaller batteries give shorter use times, and are lighter. Overall, the 2780-20 paddle switch grinder is a great tool. Love the Portable Nature of the Grinder
Purchased this grinder for its portability (i.e., NO CORD). This grinder surely accomplishes that. It has plenty of power; however, it has a relatively low turning speed (RPM) which means stock removal is fairly slow and some types of abrasive wheels do not function optimally at the slower RPM. Also, it can drain a battery quickly (why more than my Milwaukee M18 recip saw). I have been using it more for my precision grinder and use my old corded grinder for bulk stock removal. Milwaukee Power Tools are great!
The Milwaukee 2780-20 is a great grinder tool. I can see why they modified later versions with a more easy to adjust (rotate) Guard but was disappointed to learn they are no longer providing hard shell protective cases for their tools. The Contractor Bag just does not provide the best protection when transporting or storing.
