In my humble opinion, this memorable tv series is one of the best, ever. Unfortunately enough to me, this show haven't been released in my country, so I had to resort to ebay in order to get it. I love this show because it has all the ingredients of a wonderful entertainment, it mixes old west stories filled with high-tech gadgetry, and the villains are larger than life. It's kinda James Bond of the West, and the episodes are very well elaborated, with very good writing and directing. The acting isn't that much, but it's ok. What I truly love most about this series is the remembrances it brings me of my childhood, when I used to watch the episodes on the tv. Overall, it is a great acquisition, it's a good fun, well-written, imaginative and a landmark in the tv story. I reccomend watching it, you won't regret it.Read full review
The Wild Wild West, one of the last great network TV show westerns. Season two, which ran from 1966-67, was the first of the series to be broadcast in color. I must say here that the digital transfers are very pleasing, with nice crisp colors. It is amazing that a 40 year old TV show could look so good. Hats off to Paramount/CBS on the remastering, BUT.....I am saddened by the fact that there were no extra features on this box set. The series one set had some great audio commentary by Robert Conrad and others, but that is missing here. I think one reason people buy these season sets is to receive some bonus, or factual tidbits that were not previously seen or heard. You do get all 28 second season epiosodes, complete and uncut. Like it's predecessor it is housed in a cardboard sleeve with 4 slimline cases holding the dvds. Set runs 1453 minutes and has a Dolby digital mono (2.0) soundtrack with closed captioning. Season two continues with great story lines and the James Bond of the west premise. One of my all time favorite TV shows.Read full review
My brother and I could hardly wait for this show to come on TV when we were kids, so when I saw this on eBay, I had to buy it for his birthday. Of course the quality of the picture is greatly enhanced on DVD over the grainy old black and white TV images we saw as kids, but the things that my brother and I liked about this series as kids remains the same...namely, the originality of the concept of a James Bond type secret service agent let loose in the American west, the clever characters and disguises that James West's sidekick Artemis Gordon always came up with to save the day, the really nasty archvillains and sociopaths who were, for some reason, always out to kill poor old President Grant or take over the world, and so forth. This series was great fun back then and still is. Happy birthday, Don, and I'll be looking for the other seasons of this out on DVD!Read full review
Really, what's not to like..??..Part satire, part western, part James Bond of the Sixties era.....Robert Conrad and Ross Martin make a perfect team as secret agents in the Old West...Imaginative gadgets galore with an Old West flavor.....And Conrad,an stuntman in his own right, does most, if not all, his own stunts and convincingly too..In a way, this show was a real influence on MURDOCH MYSTERIES, although that show plays a little more seriously. But, nonetheless, THE WILD WILD WEST is a joy to beyond on so many levels you won't even notice that it's tongue is firmly, and earnestly, in it's cheek. For those of us who has seen this show way back when it was on TV,it brings back such fun memories. For those who have never seen it,it's timeless quality is a fun way to spend some time not near a computer. By all means, enjoy...Read full review
