This is a what you see is what you get book. Nothing new or startling, but good solid information. Like most breed books, the authors sometimes get so wrapped up in their love of their breed, that they deemphasize some of their less attractive traits. For instance, I have read in several books, including this one, that Havanese are moderately active, and social. My little Zu Zu is highly active and she has a distinct sense of humor, especially when I am calling her. She grins at me and then runs the other way! This book and others are right about housebreaking, but wrong about the reason for the "mistakes". My pup is 12 weeks old, and she weighs about 4 lbs. She has never made an overnight "mistake" in her crate, and only one in my bed, which tells me it is NOT about bladder control. During the day, however, is another story. She knows what to do outside, but it isn't convenient for the little stinker to stop what she is doing to go outside, so I clean up messes every day. I think I should write a book for Havanese dogs on how to train their Humans! This being said, I adore my new puppy, and I know that I will get her housebroken, because I will out-stubborn her. She is too cute and her personality is divine. This is a good book for beginner Havanese owners. Read full review
