This pump works well. As a replacement to the cartridge filter it is a night and day difference. Out of the box, one of the threaded collars on the intake hose was broken, We didn't need that as our summerwaves pool has 1.25 inch fittings. It came with a new water jet. We had to trim the hole in the liner for it, but It does fit without leaks. For the first 3 days we had to backwash the sand a lot. I think 7 times over the first week. Our pool was very cloudy. The pressure gauge didn't work for a few days, so we would backwash when water coming out was not as strong. After a weeks the water was clear and the pump is operating well. We highly recommend this product.

ordered sand filter pump, due to the small filter just wasn't keeping up with the pool, to prevent allege from growing. Pool was already in a state of greenish water . Previous i already had a bypass system in place, so all i needed was the adaptors to go from smaller hoses to 1 1/2 hose. Bought this sand filter pump to upgrade from the1500 GPH cartridge filter that came with our Intex 18 by 4 ft Quick Set Pool. The cartridges were getting hard to find, expensive and needed attention too frequently. The old pump was also noisy. The new Intex sand filter was easy to assemble following the included directions and is a major improvement. It is much quieter, more powerful and will be much easier to care for. It has been operating for over one week with no diminishment in pump performance Hooked right up to existing 1 1/2 Intex pool hoses. It took 77 pounds of pool filter sand (about 1 1/2 50 lbs bags) to fill the filter. The sand is supposed to only need replacement after five years. Watched a You Tube video on the backwash process to clean the sand. It looks so much simpler than trying to clean those paper cartridges. i have a 9x18x52 intex pool and after 4 years the original filter started throwing sand into the pool at an alarming rate. after trying intex for help, i tried to fix on my own which didn't work. i looked and looked for a pump and filter package for about 2 weeks, not only on ebay but amazon and different trading posts. then i thought i had finally found it.. the original pump and filter was an ST90110 (not sure if that is a correct part number) .25HP pump with filter that holds 26 # of sand. i found on ebay this one which is two sizes bigger (.6HP pump and 77# of sand) most of the forums i visited said most of the times bigger is better on a pump so i thought this is ok. after installing it which was a breeze, seeing that i had the similar pump for 4 years, i put it on auto filter setting for 4 hours, (my instruction book says this filter and pump takes 3 hours to circulate my pool.) the first day, the pool looked very nice (in comparison to what it did look like) but after a couple of days, every time i would go out i could see sand film in the bottom of the pool with some accumulation on the edges. i am still having to vacuum every other day to keep it swimmable. i would try to send back but with the supply so hard to get with the demand because of the pandemic, i am going to live with this one the rest of the summer and try something else next year. The cheap pump that came with my Coleman pool didn't work well before it died completely. We purchased this pump and two bags of the filter ball media. Setup was straightforward and the results have been excellent. There's actually enough flow for the surface skimmer to work properly now. The only thing I would improve is to have a clock with a battery backup and the ability to program times for the pump instead of the pump just starting every 24 hours after you turn it in the first time. This would be nice on their chlorine generators too.

The intex pump was easy to assemble with the video or manual. It does take more than one 50lb bag of sand. Some sand got pushed back in but I'm using youtube to figure it out since others have had the same issue.
