Easy to install and set up, installed today on a Technics SL-1600 mk2. Used a standard Technics head shell and a Technics overhang gauge. Set tracking force for 1.8g per users guide. Great separation and soundstage, very impressive bass, tight not boomy. Good sound all around. Sound should improve after break in, I suppose maybe 30-50 hours. I can highly recommend this great product. Really enjoying my vinyl again! PS. Its a MC(moving coil) but has high output (1.6mv). Should work fine on a standard phono input.

I have upgraded my hi-fi system to the point where the cartridge became the limiting factor, My new DL-110 provides crisper and warmer sound reproduction than a similarly priced moving magnet cartridge while still functioning with a reasonably priced high output phono pre-amp. The good news is that the cartridge is no longer the weakest link in my system; the bad news is that now I need a better tube power amp. if you have a moving magnet cart and want to improve your sound reproduction, your best bet is a reasonably priced high output moving coil cartridge that does not require additional investment in a low output phono step-up. The DL-110 fits the bill to a "T" I was surprised at how dramatic the sound difference was. "Jimmy D."

Denon may not be the first name you think of when you need a new cartridge for your turntable, but it should be among the top choices. Denon's DL-103 series moving coil cartridges have been used by the NHK (Nippon Hoso Kyokai), Japan's main broadcasting company, for many years. That, alone, is a great recommendation. The DL-110 is designed to work with virtually any good turntable. It's a high-output moving coil cartridge that can deliver enough output to work into standard phono inputs that accept a moving magnet cartridge. You still get all the benefits of the moving coil design, without the need for a step-up device. Setting this cartridge up is pretty much what you should do with any cartridge. It's essential that the overhang be properly set; to this end, Denon include a gauge that will allow you to perform this adjustment. This minimizes distortion caused by the stylus riding in the grooves at an improper angle. As I said, this is an adjustment that should be performed with any cartridge. Vertical tracking angle is also an important adjustment; it has to do with the angle in which the stylus rides in the groove. If your turntable allows you to adjust this (not all do), you'll know when you have it right by the sound. If you don't have this adjustment, don't worry. It'll still sound great. The last adjustment is tracking force. This cartridge performs best at 1.8 to 2 grams. The sound... it's extremely clear and detailed. You get solid bass, clean mids, and detailed highs. The elliptical stylus will deliver all the sound that the groove can yield. Listening to your favorite music with this cartridge will reveal detail in the music you may not have heard before. Most important, the sound isn't at all fatigueing. Once the cartridge breaks in, you won't want to turn it off! It's that good! There is a downside here; unlike moving magnet cartridges, the stylus is not user replaceable. I recommend installing this cartridge with the stylus protector flipped down, to protect against accidental damage. Suffice it to say, this cartridge comes very highly recommended. You won't be sorry.Read full review

Turned out I unfortunately had to return this cartridge. I know this is a great sounding cartridge because I have heard it on my friends turntable. The problem I had was that there is no warning when you order , that can only be used with an aluminum alloy or acrylic platter! The coil magnetism is strong enough to crush the stylus and cantilever. I looked into isolation with an acrylic mat. contacted the TT manufacturer and was told it was too risky! I had to go with an upgraded MM cartridge. I bought the Sumiko Pearl. the Denon DL110 is still hard to beat if you can use it. This price point is also terrific, would highly recommend

This is an excellent cartridge. I did a frequency spectrum analysis and this cart has a similar output to a flac file ripped from a high quality CD. The cart tracks well and sounds very good to me. I ordered this for my Denon DP-23F phonograph because it has very similar specifications to the OEM cartridge. The OEM cartridge is a DL-80MC and is no longer manufactured. This cart is very forgiving with respect to the tracking force setting on my DP-23F.

Very few cartridges at this price with a line contact style stylus. As an HOMC, it can be used in MM input, so no extra equipment is needed. I tried a retipped DL-110 with just an elliptical stylus, which was quite nice, it just did not have that same sound. As a result, I bought new when replacement was needed: even with no break-in time, Denon's tip is just better and the sound reflected this. I especially noticed a reduced inner groove distortion. Easy to set up - from time of opening package to installed and listening was 3/4-hour. And as an aside, I find the look of the cartridge quite pleasing.

If you’re serious about great stereo sound, this cartridge will not disappoint. The stylus found things in my 60s and 70s vintage records that I thought were gone for good! Make sure you set this up properly though. Set your tracking force as suggested as well as anti skate . I am using the “MM” input on my SAE P102 preamp and have not one problem.

This is a very special stylus. It is a moving coil but acts like a moving magnet cartridge. It is such a good needle. A little tricky to put on head shell, just inverted the screws to make it tighten correctly. This is so good I would buy another when the time comes, hopefully a ways down the road.

This cartridge is a true step up from the mass of competent, but entry level cartridges out there. Readily discernible, almost shocking improvement in sound quality.. awesome on better turntables and even more awesome on high-end equipment. I installed two of these on two different tt’s. Hard to imagine that a cartridge costing two or three times as much as this one could do a better job.

The DL-110s produce a balanced, neutral sound and a wide soundstage. Playing Dave Brubeck’s Time Out was a revelatory example of how much air a cart of this price range can produce. This cart will not quite give you that warm analogue sound - like what the Nagaoka MP-110 provides at almost half the price - but it will resolve fine details and nuances. I do prefer the Nagaoka MP-200 though - it is more refined, with sweeter highs and gives me more analogue warmth (and midrange presence) to boot.
