Wolverine 8mm is a good solution to your old film
I rated 4 stars even the quality is Reasonable only It is difficult to define the image quality since 8mm films by default are low quality especially with old films after lying in a closet 40-50 years and not in a good in condition. The Wolverine 8mm creates output files I'm glad that I can watch my old films that are important to me on a computer or a TV. An excellent movie converter.
I had a little glitch with it in the beginning. The really sticky lubricant they use on the rubber belt to creat tension to keep the film tight on the take up reel got into the film advance mechanism and caused flutter and shake in the movie. It got so bad at times that it actually stalled the mechanism. I took the back cover off and liberally lubricated the mechanism with plastic compatible oil and after a brief work in period the unit works much better!! I've done about 20 home movie conversions so far and have about 30 more to do and I am very pleased with the results. The unit is a little pricey but once the bugs ( that really shouldn't be there for the cost of the thing) are worked out. It's a good unit.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Slow, plodding but does the job
Got this to digitize really old family films. I have both 8mm and Super 8 film so this fit be bill because it easily handles either with the slide if a switch. Like everyone complains about, the unit is slow taking about 30 minutes for a small film BUT when I see the price for professional digitization, I’ll put up with the slow, plodding recording! You can also adjust the frame for recording so you don’t see any of the square holes/feed holes in the finished version. My films are old with some fading and degradation so I can’t really say how good the colors are reproduced. The one thing I really don’t like is it only has the ability to handle the small reels or the 5 inch ones. I, unfortunately, have two larger reels, (7 inch I think) and this can’t handle those. I’m not sure how I’m going to get those done. Not only that but it will take forever to digitize those! Anyway, overall, it does the job I need it to do.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Old 8MM
I’m happy with the results. The quality of the pictures are determined by the quality of the film. Most of my films were in rough shape, but at least now I can watch them again without having to fool with the old projector! You can edit your video with one of the many editing apps that are out there. The machine is very fragile feeling for the price. The rewind feature is slow and weak. Wolverine does an exceptional job of digitizing 60 year old 8mm films to digital.
Wolverine, though it is slow, does an excellent job of digitizing 60 year old 8mm film to digital. Very little effort using Adobe Premiere Elements produces an amazingly clear and crisp picture. The frame-by-frame capture makes all the difference. I have completed about 25 of the 140 3" reels in the old family film box in the last week. Using only a lint-free dry cotton pad to gently wipe the film prior to using it on the Wolverine has worked fine for me. Note: It is imperitive that the advancement cog be cleared (using canned air) of dust and debris after each film is processed and the unit needs to be monitored during operation.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned

Small machine but great results
I've digitalized several reels so far, both regular 8mm and Super 8 with great results so far. You will need to clean your film first with a lint free cloth to remove the dust and specks. There are adjustments for contrast and brightness, but I've found that the only adjustment I need to use is the frame adjustments. The Wolverine takes an image of each frame, so a 2 minute reel takes about 25 - 30 minutes to complete. You can playback your digitalized movie on the screen of the unit, and it plays at the normal speed. If you want to transfer files from the machine to your PC for further editing and burning to a DVD, you will need to download software that will allow you to slow the file down, as it will playback fast on the PC. Since I have Windows, I downloaded a program inexpensively from their store that allows for slowing, editing, and cutting the footage for great results. I have not used the feature yet of plugging the machine directly into the TV to watch the digitalized movie.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Works well
Ran lots of 8mm and super 8 film rolls through this machine. It's still working fine. Quality of recorded images is better than watching projected image on the old projector. Works well and well worth the cost
The Woverine converter works great. The only problem is that after about 50 films converted the play back had the jitters. I talked to the tech department and found out that the machine needs maintenance like any mechanical device. It needs to be blown out with high pressure air, cleaned with rubbing alcohol , and lubed with polishing oil. It works great again.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Works well after a glitch
I experienced the same issue that mike982 had. After following his recommendation, I clean the belt and oiled the gears, the unit works fine (should we have to do that on a new unit, instead of sending it back?). The results are perfectly acceptable. Since I share the results on YouTube with my family, I use the YouTube editor enhancement section to put the movie in slow motion at half the speed.
