The Criterion edition of The Manchurian Candidate is fabulous. It comes in a plastic case as opposed to a digipak and the cover art looks great. It's good that Criterion went for a minimalist simple design as opposed to something strange and abstract. Unfortunately the essay included inside is not a booklet. This is disappointing because the booklets are much easier to read and often allow for more content. The design for the fold out is pretty good despite me wishing it were a booklet. The transfer itself looks very good. The B&W really pops when it needs to. There is a nice amount of film grain with this transfer as well. The menu is decent (the menus don't really matter in the grand scheme of things). This is without a doubt, the definitive edition of The Manchurian Candidate to own. A film this spectacular deserves a presentation this spectacular. Highly reccomend.Read full review
