This is the definitive set of this classic film to get, it has all 3 versions and every single feature from the older discs ported over into this new 4K set. The PQ and AQ is excellent with the 4K remasters and looks best on a 4K tv! I highly recommend getting this set! There is nothing bad about this set IMO.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, I'm sure some of you were thinking the same thing I was: Coppola (and the studio) just hawking another version of the movie, like redux and dossier, to get you to buy it again. However I was glad I picked up final cut as it really was a much smoother movie to watch, especially after the awkward parts that were added to redux. I thought the raw additions (in redux) took away from Willard, but final cut seems to me to keep the mystery of the character in place, and is a much better transition through the added bunny and French plantation scenes. If you love the movie you owe it to yourself to check out final cut, and I agree with the director that it is the best version to date.

A.) it was REALLY inexpensive for a 6 dvd 40th anniversary collection edition! and 2.) i am really intrigued with the parallels to the joseph conrad novella, "heart of darkness" and its study of white colonialism and power. how the white man has imposed or tried to impose his will and beliefs on other civilizations. hearts and minds, indeed! plus, the extras included in the collection showing the making of and back story to the final product that is Apocaaypse Now! it's an incredible & fascinating story! There is not another movie made presently that remotely comes near the allegory of the Viet Nam war and/or of man's true nature in such an apocalyptic crises as war! it truly shows a dark journey!
