I bought this DVD, Alice Cooper's "Welcome to My Nightmare," for my son. When he was twelve, he saw a few momnets of it on ABC TV's Wednesday Movie of the week and it struck a chord in him. Two years later, he entered his rock and roll phase (which he still has, at 45 not grown out of). For years, he looked high and low for the "Welcome to My Nightmare" film. Finally, through the miracle of the internet, I was able to find it for him. It definitely caught him off-guard and delighted him no end, making this Christmas one the most memorial and important ones in his life. Thank you.
I have been a fan of ALICE COOPER'S music since the 70's and as an artist he has never let me down. That said the same is true with WELCOME TO MY NIGHTMARE,listening to the vinyl or CD was always a pleasure but nothing compares to adding his touch of madness via video of the live concert. Many of the bands songs earn much greater appreciation when seen live in concert, whether it be truly live or on video and that holds true for NIGHTMARE. This, like much of the bands work deals with some dark issues and I wouldn't recommend for the very young or squeamish, but if you are already a fan this DVD doesn't fail to please. And is a must for any fan that appreciates the experience of being "at the concert" due to the incredible 5.1 surround and the various camera shots. Even if you own the album, this would be a great addition to any collection so:WELCOM TO MY NIGHTMARE.............................Read full review
first the bad..Alice is obviously a little under the influence in video..which i felt made his personal performance quality go down. the rest of the cast is awesome, especially his wife's ballet in "only women bleed". The music itself is much better on music only cd. Alices performance is much better in post drinking videos. only rented video--but am gonna buy for my collection. Love the guy. saw in 1976 when i was 10yrs old. again in 1997, and have tickets for this August. Love that distinctive voice.
The reason I bought this item is because I love Alice Cooper. I always thought "Welcome to my Nightmare" was scary ( I love scary and always have) when I was growing up in the 60's and 70's. It also reminds me of my past, fun and easy times when your parents took care of you! Now that I am older I realize all the theatrical parts of Alice Cooper's concerts. He seems to be very down to earth and a family man...I like that about him. I also feel he tries to help others with problems he has overcome. He seems to be about kids (not only his own). All of this, of course, is based on interviews I have seen on TV. He just puts on a great show...love it...greatdvd!!!
Long before Manson, there was Alice. Alice Cooper was the first concert I ever went to. This CD took me back. I relived my amazement. Even today, the stage show is impressive. Cooper was one of the first to create a full blown stage show during a concert. He was a true performance artist. He set the precedent for so many artists who followed. If you have never seen Alice Cooper... apend a night(mare) with Alice. You will be entertained.
