The original Distortions album (1966) is supplemented with bonus tracks from Live at the Electric Theatre (1968). The original is replete with generally pedestrian covers of songs by The Who, Cream, The Yardbirds, The Leaves, The Zombies, Buffy Sainte-Marie and The Spencer Davis Group. "Action Woman," a garage nugget, is the single song that likely keeps the band from obscurity. If you're primarily interested in that gem, I'd suggest a collection, such as the Nuggets box, Uptight Tonight: The Ultimate Garage Collection or The Trash Box. Cover or not, little here is engaging or interesting enough to urge repeated plays or to plant earworms. Unless you're a fan of 60s Minnesota bands or simply curious, I'd pass on Distortions. Moving on. No text. Adequate liner notes.
