Many of his best before he got into pop blues/rock
My Dark Hour, no radio play, great song... He later stole the main riff for fly like an Eagle. The song is just he & Paul McCartney. Paul on Drums, bass, vocals. True stereo, as a kid I would play with the balance to here one side & the other. I play LIvin' in the USA as loud as I can, dig the harmonica & organ. Great song.
I had this album on vinyl years ago. It was really good to hear it again. Very nice recording and some very rare Steve Miller material and some songs you won't hear anywhere else.
If you like Miller you'll like this CD.

First of all you can't blame Steve Miller for pursuing commercial success in the 70s and 80s. He knew what the people liked. Sad it is that "Anthology" is stereotyped as a 60s album. It is getting on to 50 years since he wrote these songs, but if anything, it enlightens the new listener on his true musical genius. It is impossible to see what music is timeless and what is not, but this one is loaded with great songs at a bargain price.
