If you are a Van Morrison fan, then you should explore the music on this CD. If you were a fan of Van Morrison from his days in the group THEM ("Gloria"), then you certainly should take this CD for a spin. It is bluesy, much like his days with THEM. The recordings are all in stereo, and sound great! This transitional CD between THEM and his later recordings is a must for any Van Morrison fan, but is probably not the place to start unless you want two versions of Brown Eyed Girl. The second version (not the one that played on the radio) is a little different and a joy to hear.
The CD starts off with Brown Eyed Girl which is one of my favorites but from there it kind of goes downhill. I do love the lyrics of Ro Ro Rosey (imagine somebody writing that song nowadays...people would be trying to put them on a sex offender list). Now, when I say it goes downhill I don't mean in quality. This is a great collection of songs but after a while they start wearing on me. I suppose most of it is due to Van's wailing which at times can make fingernails on a chalkboard sound good in comparison. Still, I kind of dig this. 3 Stars.

Top quality product/just what I expected. I bought it because I wanted the music...........................................................................................................................
If you can handle the intense sadness of several of these songs, you'll find the album musically strong and emotionally drenching.
