I bought this because I saw it in 1984 and thought it was unusually vivid in color, like an EC comic, combined with the darkness of film noir. The straigh-up theme of good against evil was appealing, and I loved the way the characters were reminiscent of those in films of the aforementioned period. Also, the film evinced an appreciation for 1950's aesthetic style, w/o the social nuances. Values of those of us who were young at the time were a big part of the film, and since we looked back for stylistic inspiration in realms such as clothing and music, our own time line was as difficult to pin down as the one in the film. We loved the cars, the diners, and oh so much the clothes, and it is all there in this film. Tina Highland
