Another Great Volume In the Black and White Series
This is actually the first album I listened to in the Black an White series, and the first of Danny Wright’s music I ever heard, so it’s special to me. He starts taking on more contemporary pop tunes here, such as “The Wind Beneath My Wings” and Kenny G's "Going Home." But even on the show tunes, movie themes and standards that are expected features of the Black and White albums, we hear him taking on a more contemporary approach, which is refreshing. And yet, fans should still be pleased as Danny’s distinctive style is still prominent. Danny’s playing is virtuosic without ever being flashy or overdone; it’s always both tasteful and creative. If you’re new to his music, know that anything in the Black and White series is his piano and nothing else, but he gets so much packed into his playing that it still sounds rich and full. These are all soothing and great for rainy days and dinner ambiance, and I recommend this one as one of the highlights in the series to anyone who likes solo piano music.
