Hollywood can't make a decent flick for 20 million. This film has it all for 1.2 million. It is tense to the end, the characters are believable, even the car chase is. It makes you think about being in the victim's situation; " could I have possibly have dealt with it" I don't know. Might have taken the bullet instead. Brody was the initial reason for buying it. He doesn't disappoint. Does it well, you really want to strangle him slowly. I prefer flims without big name Hollywood draws. Frequently that's all there is.

Considering I'd never heard of the movie before, I was surprised by how good it was. I bought it because Adrien Brody was it in, and he's always worth watching, but I loved the way the suspense builds in the movie as Brody, playing a psycho who has buried a woman alive, plays games with the police who are desperately trying to find her before her "oxygen" runs out. The one-on-one scenes with Brody and Maura Tierney (who plays Detective Foster) are just riviting. It reminded me a bit of Hanibal Lector toying with Agent Starling in Silence of the Lambs. You'll watch it more than once. Oh, and the special features includes an audio commentary with the director and Brody and Tierney which was just hilarious at times. That was just icing on the cake.
In this great crime thriller, Madeline Foster is a plain clothes policewoman for the NYPD. You would find her behaviours after police business quite bizarre. Madeline enjoys errotic sex and alcohol. She is suddenly assigned a case of a businessman (James Naughton) whose wife has been kidnapped and burried alive! The kidnappers have left a demand that must be completed within 24 hours. What is intriguing is that Madeline believes she knows who the kidnapper is - someone who goes by the name of Houdini. This Houdini character knows who Madeline is and plans to this be a mind game. A great DVD for your collection.
This is a riveting suspense movie in which the clock is ticking very loudly (figuratively speaking). Very much worth watching.
