I love this film...though I was a little less in love with the effect it had on British men in the1997 / 1998 era....I cannot recount how many parties I would be at - this song would come on ...and the men would try and recreate that infamous final scene....though luckily they always stopped short of - The Full Monty!! Set in post industry Yorkshire...whre the Steelworks have all shut down and unemployment is high - this particular part is a realistic look at society in the UK at that time and indeed currently - many once thriving towns have lost their major source of industry and folks have become desperate at the lack of available jobs....however, this takes a drastic turn when Gaz played by Robert Carlyle of Trainspotting Fame - witnesses the raucous caused by a local male strip troupe - and decides to get in on the act!! He recruits his mates after a audition scene that is both hysterical and sad at the same time as we see what desperation can do to a person's spirit! Then however, the the comedy really begins!! Look out for some incredibly funny scenes such as the reaction of the police who arrest our would be strippers or the scene where our fellas's stand in line at the unemployment office and cannot keep still when one of their rehearsal songs plays on the radio! There are also some deeply sad and depressing scenes in this movie, and director Peter Cattaneo is skilled at making two seemingly incompatible emotions collide to produce this masterpiece!! The ending is one not to be missed!!! Your heart goes out to these Average Joes who are trying to make a difference in their world...and in my opinion, they certainly succeed!! An excellent movie that is well worth watching !!Read full review
The Full Monty it is very entertaining and very funny. Robert Carlyle brilliant (see him in Once too) and is certainly the star of this movie. The rest of the cast is great too. Well worth a watch, but as children are known to explode when they hear naught words, be sure to send them to bed...

I had forgotten how long ago this film was made. A bunch of neighborhood men in Sheffield, England are all out of work. They witness a crowd of hundreds of women paying 10 pounds each to watch the Chippendales dance. They decide they could do the same and the cash would rescue them from financial disaster. Well, the typical English comedy ensues. The film is enjoyable, well made and clever. It is enjoyable. Not an award winner. But, most films aren't. Worth watching.

The Full Monty is one of the funniest films I've ever seen. It is definitely an original and there is nothing else like it. Brilliant!!!

Much more than I expected from this film. Very funny but with engaging characters that each have their own unique issues. Good music and some entertaining and good dancing too. While not knowing what to expect, exposure wise, it was tastefully done. A very enjoyable movie. You won't be disappointed.
