Saw this movie on TV and wanted to purchase it for my family to see. The story tells of a mother having to raise 6 kids on her own..husband had died earlier...It takes place in the early 60's in Los Angeles. Everything went wrong in her life and she decided she wanted to up root the kids and find a new place to live, even if they didn't have any money. She had always place a picture on the fridge of her ideal home. Always hoping something would materialize. So they left L.A. and drove and drove in an old broken down car that was about 20yrs old. The car kept breaking down and she had to use her wedding ring for collateral. It wasn't until she saw the house of her dreams that they stopped and set up shop. Just so happened it was in Idaho..The story tells of the many trials this family had to encounter, and how each child never complained of their dire situation of having nothing..The movie showed unity of the family, work ethics and how each child had to learn at an early age without complaining and the love they felt towards one another. How the family touched and were touched by the people in this small farming community. A very touching and heart felt movie I have recommended to several of my friends.Read full review
i enjoy watching the story unfold as a family makes things work. especially the part that Kathy Bates is the glue that holds the family together.
