I'd almost rate this movie poor, but I've seen worse. If you can stomach bad romantic stereotypes, flat characters, and hardly any chemistry between the lead characters, then this is the movie for you. The girlfriend (Julienne Moore) is a whiny woman who uses pregnancy to try to force Sam (Hugh Grant) to marry her. Tom Arnold and Joan Cusack play the annoying married couple who keeps on showing up with many brats in tow, giving Sam qualms about a future with wife and kids. Sam's bachelor buddy (played by Jeff Goldblum) gives Sam many reasons to stay single. The ending is typical of romantic comedies, but the viewer is asking the whole time: Why do these two end up together? For such an all-star cast, the movie is definitely below average - the only reason it might be worth watching is if you're a die-hard fan of bad romantic comedies.Read full review
Samuel and Rebecca have it all. During their near-perfect, five-year relationship, they've seen their careers thrive; experienced countless nights of passion in their wonderful San Francisco home; and had the freedom to take off on romantic weekends at whim. And then one day they receive a little surprise... one that will catapult their life of Perfect Order into one of Utter Chaos: Rebecca is pregnant, and Samuel's life will never be the same. His frenetic new existence begins with an unlikely friendship with a couple of well-meaning, but overbearing parents, Marty and Gail. This is one of the funniest movies. This movie will make you laugh and cry. I highly reccomend this movie.
Well, collecting Hugh Grant movies and seeing this for the first time, I do love it. Wanting to collect Joan Cusack movies, it's a double keeper.

I love the characters. Great story line, and a subtle lesson about life. Not preachy, but very funny. All actors are great, including the late, great Robin Williams.

Yes this is a "chick flick" and at times makes guys look bad for being scared of changing our lives and bringing a new life in this world, but this movie has probubly the funniest 15 minutes in movie history. It starts with an unmarried couple happy as can be then not so happy, the must see part starts when her water breaks, then hold on for the ride. Great couple movie esspecially if you have a child and can relate, but not nessesary.
Great picture, great price!

First seen the movie at the drive in. I enjoyed the movie. Yes SOME men are scared about being a father and do the things Hugh Grant did in the movie, but it was a good movie. I have it in my many chick flick collections. I don't care much for Julianne Moore, but I still watch alot of her movies. She didn't use her pregnancy to get Hugh to marry her, she is the one who leaves him.
I like Hugh Grant. The movie played perfectly
