Lucio Fulci joins the rank of Italy's top horror specialists with this 1979 breakthrough zombie epic. An English journalist (Ian McCulloch) and a missing scientist's daughter (Tisa Farrow, sister of Mia) try to uncover the reason behind a series of mysterious deaths caused by the undead. Shot in the wake of DAWN OF THE DEAD also called ZOMBI in Italy, which is the reason why the movie I am reviewing is called ZOMBI 2. It is a Fulci film that cannot be descibed in words or even in adjectives. The zombies definitly outclass Romero's walking dead all within the creatity of stunning, realistic make-up effects. The actors who I think are in prime game are McCulloch and the always underappreciated Al Cliver. I am not saying this is better than DAWN OF THE DEAD, but it is a flesh-eating masterpiece that truly stands on it's own. NOTE: This review is the same as the Shriek Show DVD release. While that version of ZOMBIE is presented in anamorphic widescreen the Anchor Bay release is non-anamorphic. But its a worthy addition to anyone's Fulci collection.Read full review
What a scary movie. When I was younger I tried to watch this movie it took seven times going to the movies and I still haven't seen the hold movie. Now I'm going to try again. Wish me good luck.

Anyone who has yet to see Fulci's Living Dead classic should go out a get it now. These older Dead films are what all the new ones stem from. i.e. Dawn of the Dead, 28 Days/Weeks Later, etc. Zombie starts off like it is going to be your regular variety of 70's cheese, but moves quickly into the plot including nice scenes(!), bloody gore and very realistic walking dead zombies. Good Stuff!
Movie review courtesy of Deathgrind.com: Zombie : Lucio Fulci : 1979 : 5/5 : My favourite zombie movie… Fulci’s best movie on the subject. A police officer is attacked by a strange man on a yacht. It turns out the yacht belongs to a doctor who was on a tropical island conducting some kind of experiment. His daughter and a journalist both set off for the island to find out the fate of the girl’s father, despite the warnings of the denizens of the nearby islands that the island is cursed.
Great DVD!
