I saw the movie "The Age of Innocence", Edith Wharton's story of a love triangle among the immensely rich New York City upper class in the 19th century. All actors are superb. The elaborate clothes, fashions, interiors of houses are a treat for the eyes. These upper class New Yorkers lived like European royalties. Outwardly they acted like genteel royalty. Near the end of the story all members of this elite club reveal themselves as hypocrites with an exquisite attribute of cruelty. I enjoyed watching the DVD. It is of very good quality at a very fair price.

Anytime you can pair up two national treasures such as Daniel Day-Lewis and Michelle Pfeiffer, you get close enough to perfect as you can get. The 1993 adaptation of Edith Wharton’s “The Age of Innocence” is a fantastic film! It’s a shame that Daniel’s retired now. We miss him!

This is absolutely the best of Edith Wharton's fiction. Ms. Wharton is not known to our modern day as an author. But she was the very best of her day & it translates in this movie. It takes a visionary such as Martin Scorsazy to bring to life this book in our time & make it beautiful & real. There is nothing sexier than the incident between the 2 main characters in the carriage where he unbuttons glove of the woman he has desired forever. WOW! Forget the sexual frivolaty of today. This scene makes a heart beat beyond what we can imagine. It is the way it is done. Sadly, everything today is about the "right now". This movie brings back the things woman want. Romance. But also how to get to the sexual. This is a how to for men in a big way.
