One of my favorite movies, Ian Holm does a masterful job in the main role.

I enjoyed the movie. Very entertaining. Not a comedy, but not so dramatic to be dark. Very believeable. Actors did a good job

The premise behind this film is a fictional account of Napolean leaving a stand-in behind and escaping his island prison of Elba and returning to France, looking to return to his former glory. Ian Holm (Chariots of Fire), as Napolean, gives a consummate performance as a man torn between once having the power to hold the world in his hands, but no real life, to a man who discovers a more rewarding existance. Nuanced performances by the supporting cast, make this a film even more enjoyable on repeated viewings.
Wonderfully unique! New take on Napoleon and his life after St. Helena- Yes, after St. Helena- According to this version, Napoleon escapes St. Helena- replaced by a-look-alike man-servant who dies before his time- Leaving the real Napoleon in Paris with a new life- and unable to convince people who are close to him who he really is- With very interesting, comical and sensitive outcomes- I loved this movie- Very original and out of the box ingenuity- In French with subtitles-Even if you are not fluent in French, the acting is so impeccable that you will will not miss a beat! Enjoy!
This film is a funny and thought-provoking movie about Napoleon Bonaparte's plan to escape his island prison. Well written, well acted and very good all around. Good for the whole family.
