An update of the HD-201
Evidently Sennheiser has replaced the venerable HD-201 with this HD-206. The HD-201 was one of the few inexpensive headphones available with a reasonably flat frequency response that would not hype any particular frequency range. The HD-201 didn't sound exciting, but it did give you a reasonably accurate version of what a recording was intended to sound like. A very useful tool for people creating sound products. The HD-206 is similar, with improved imaging and detail. However Sennheiser couldn't resist also hyping the bass a little. That may make it more popular with casual listeners. But it is no longer quite as neutral as the HD-201. However it is still a bargain if you are seeking an un-hyped sound.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned

Lightweight Sennheiser HD206
I live in an apartment building and like my new turntable addiction. Headphones seemed to be the logical answer to keeping friends with the neighbors. These Sennheiser HD206 are a good start. I have worn them for hours at a time with minimal discomfort and they sound really really good. Not too much bass, not tinny, I can pick out nuances that make me smile. Are there better? Very comfortable with great sound.
Great step up from my older Sennheiser HD201. Over ear is much more comfortable than the on ear. Great sound with great bass. To me the only con and is efficiently dealing with the long cord. Good sound on a budget, light, with some retro charm
Sound is reproduced well, although I have to put the volume a little higher than I'm used to, these work great for monitoring and listening for leisure (if you manage your cable length properly). This is not a criticism of the product, but if you try to plug this into a phone with a case, it might not fit since it's wider than most jacks at the base, you can solve this problem by taking the phone case off.
