I bought this to replace a Chinese brand bought on Amazon, that was erratic in it's readings. This Auto Meter one worked right out of the box without any resistor modifications to the input signal wire. The only thing I could say negatively about it was the setting Pot for the number of cylinders wasn't very identifiable when selecting the cylinder number. There was no definite click to position, and the arrow pointer on the Pot knob wasn't very visible. Other than that the lighting is old style but adequate for night illumination. It came with plenty of hardware to mount it as well as a two-sided foam tape square for adhesive mounting. I would spend the extra money again for a gauge that works without modifications.
