If you're interested in this workout DVD, before starting on it I would suggest watching it at least once before actually attempting to go along with the DVD. It isn't exactly newbie friendly in my eyes because they don't really explain the belly dance moves in detail, and it's hard for me to try to get it right when they're already on the next step. If you have some bellydancing under your belt, or don't mind doing what you can- then this is a great thing to try. I would suggest looking at others before this DVD though.
It is ironic that this is "Bellydance for Beginners" because for a novice dancer this DVD is difficult to follow. The presenters wear long outfits and you cannot determine exactly what they are doing with their legs. If I knew the steps before hand or could see what the steps were I think the dancing could be fun but I do not want to hurt myself by doing the steps incorrectly.
Overall it is a good video to get the basics to belly dancing moves. However, I thin the combination at the end is too fast, too long and a little over the top for someone who is beginning to learn to belly dance. There is a warm up section and it does help to prepare you, but there are not enough short combos for you to practice and get to know.
Easy explanation and demonstration, which didn't suprise me, Shuaila dvd/vcr have always been that way. Loved the style, and the variety of steps/combinations. The warm up Quite challenging, makes a great work out tape too.
I do not think this is an instructional video for beginners. She did about ten minutes of vague instruction and the rest was her dancing w/o giving any instruction. I would not recommend this video for anyone trying to learn how to belly dance.
