"NiGHTS: Into Dreams" is the SEGA Saturn's classic "almost-perfect" masterpiece. You'll be hard pressed to find another game with such a fantastic atmosphere. Much like the classic Mario series, NiGHTS is about having fun... regardless of your age. Gameplay revolves around collecting chips within a time-limit and then returning to a marker and then starting the process again. Movement is mostly in a 2D field with you controlling the free-flying main character; you're limited to one button for a dash attack and two buttons to make NiGHTS preform acrobatics, as well as NiGHTS "vacuum" attack that occurs when you fly in a circle quickly enough. This might seem simple at first, but dashing through a level trying to collect chips in succession to maintain a combo can get very difficult very quickly. The bosses in NiGHTS are very creative, though they do follow pretty set patterns. Figure it out and they fall very quickly; the faster you topple them the more of a multiplier you get for your top score. NiGHTS was also one of Sonic Team's first forays into playing around with AI that the player could raise. Depending on how you treat the tiny little Nightopians in the levels of the game the music and creatures will change. It's not an indepth part of the game, but it can certainly be entertaining to see the Nightopian/Nightmare hyrbid you breeded on accident. The biggest drawback to "NiGHTS: Intro Dreams" is simply that it's very short. 7 stages in all. Even with the desire to max out your high score and simply freely explore the levels despite the time limit that's not very much. What's there is excellent, but there's no denying the shortness of the game. Still, definately a classic.Read full review
Nights into Dreams is a game not many people that are not into gaming hear very often. This is mostly because its been trapped on the Saturn since 1996 and has not been ported to any other consoles. This is a shame since many people never get to experience the brilliant game that is Nights. Its graphics look outdated, but the gameplay is fun and addicting! If you have a Saturn lying around or are able to get your hands on one, THIS IS A TITLE YOU NEED TO CHECK OUT!(Also it requires the 3d control pad to play)

The game itself is in great condition. It (as well as Virtua Fighter 2) is a must-have for any Saturn owner because of its replay value (though NiGHTS admittedly has a mondo learning curve for those who haven't played it). Though the blue blur is only seen during the Sonic Team logo, NiGHTS has similar aspects which made the Sonic games so amazing: fast gameplay, colorful and detailed environments, simple controls, cool music; and above all: while Sonic made you feel you were going fast, NiGHTS makes you feel like you're flying.

This is one of the cult classics on the saturn. Releases in'96, this one was a hit for saturn owners who knew what to get. You play as claris and elliot, then turn into Nights. the objective is to stop wizeman. to complete a level, you must collect 20 blue orbs and bring them to the idea catcher, once you have the idea, you can fly back to the base. repeat the process, and then a boss fight follows. A great game, I beat it the night I bought it. TIP: Instead of getting the blue orbs with Nights, get them with claris or elliot (watch out for the clock!) Once you have about 12 orbs, go get nights and pickup the rest. this helps save time, therefor you get higher bonus time points. once you have an orb, dont immediately bring it back to base, go around a couple more times, rack up that score! anyways, i give this a 9/10, a must own!Read full review
Still a good price, for now at least but definitely worth a little more. Such a fun game and a lively soundtrack. This is what sonic should have been on the Saturn but this is more than a worthy successor and wound up being a truly unique game for its time. For fans of the Saturn definitely pick up this title while it’s still under $100 cause eventually it’s gonna get into the couple of hundred range just like dragon force or panzer dragoon saga

How do you design a platformer with no platforms? Nights was never going to out class Mario 64 or Crash, but in the absence of Sonic, Nights Into Dreams delivers a charming and addictive game that wouldn't feel out of place in the arcades. Nights is a must have Saturn experience.

I've been playing this game since childhood and haven't touched it in years--long enough to have forgotten all of the nuances of each level--and it still looks bright and colorful and dreamlike despite its age. I've only ever played it with the 3D control pad and consider that an absolute necessity for this game. I also recommend upscaling your Sega Saturn because the 3D looks otherwise rather atrocious with an AV cable on a high def TV. Nonetheless I'd rather play Nights on the original Saturn hardware than the newer remakes with updated graphics. The handling and feel of the original 3D controller on the Saturn is perfection once the game clicks with you. A must-own for the Saturn but still a very fun and unique game.

NiGHTS for the Sega Saturn is a game in which you fly along a fixed track and try your best at getting through multiple rings as you collect blue/yellow orbs in order to get through the various levels. You can either play as a young boy or girl and each character has their own levels as well as bosses. The music is decent and the graphics were top notch for its time. You'll see a big mix of 2D and 3D graphics bunched into one, which isn't really that bad because it works out well for this game. There may be only 8 levels total in the whole game, but it will take you awhile to get rank A in every single one. In order to reach the final level for each character, you must get at least rank C for the previous 3 levels. It was created by the Sonic Team so that should be enough reason to give it a shot. All in all, this is definitely a MUST have game to add to your Sega Saturn collection.Read full review
Game is very addicting and very fun. Highly recommend for any sonic fan. IDK about cash being retro though, its not so retro when prices have increased but still definitely worth the money especially with its awesome 3d controller. I had to go buy a 70 dollar controller just so I could play with nights as way it was meant to be and its a great game for adults and kids. I give it 9/10 for Saturn.

Though this game is aplenty in circulation, it is also a must have for the Sega Saturn. Rarely games show off such creativity, style, originality, and fun dynamics that go hand in hand; this game does! The Sega Saturn during the 32-64 bit generation of consoles was always the underdog, and for many good reasons. Still it takes people to make technology work, and with NiGHTS into Dreams, and also Christmas NiGHTS one will see the effort Sonic Team put into this ambitious project. If you are a Saturn owner, do not sell these games. It's an already forgotten piece of hardware that only a few can truly appreciate.
