This game is really great. It shows you the real feel of how to lead a team of men on a mission where you can tell them where to go and what to do. An example of this would be that you can tell your men to throw grenades or send them to a specific location. It has very interesting missions and gameplay. This game can get confusing if you are a little kid or do not really know about navy seals. People can get confused with the wording of the commands you are getting and the navy terms they use. This game has another great feature. you can also play online in this game which is great. Overall i would give this game a 4 out of 5.

Back in the day this game was a perfect execution of team play, voice chat a 3rd person view availability was what actually set this game apart from other shooters for the ps2 it was a money maker! The SOCOM Servers have been down for years but campaign is still available for gameplay I believe (dont quote ne). Sony's biggest mistake was the end of Socom, Zipper interactive and the millions of socom fans who basically bought an Xbox shortly after hearing there would be no more socom because we were all angry and still are at Sony after all these years for ruining a good thing. there was to be a new game called H-Hour however Sony put a stop to that also because molder's made a layover mod which let you play it with the socom view and Sony wouldn't allow it. This game is a must have in your collection even though online play isn't available I will always give anything SOCOM 5 stars, however Sony gets a 1 star from me for the reasons above and I will not purchase a ps4 for this reason alone.Read full review

Real time strategy games are a favorite around our house. SOCOM series of battle and/or mission simulators are no exception! SOCOM 3 is the third installment in the SOCOM series with all the improvements to date! If military missions is your thing then you've found some great gaming fun with this one! And of course there is upgrades to be won! We collect Playstation games, so of course this was another purchase for that as well! PS2 still rocks at our house and will for years to come!
I purchased this title because i am a big fan of the Socom series of games. This by far is the best of the three, it's the first to allow the player to jump into various types of vehicles along with your team members. The missions also vary in difficulty. The overall gameplay and controls have for the most part stayed the same so players of the previous Socom titles need not worry. Overall this game is a classic and must have if your a Socom fan, which is backed by it's total sales!
SOCOM 3 Online is like golf; it's frustrating as he## to good at, but when you finally have a good round you end up being hooked for life (that's why it's also called "SO-CRACK"). If you can put in the time and effort to get good, as well as find some friends who work as a team so you ALL win, it's great. I've played KILLZONE, Delta Force: Black Hawk Down and Battlefield 2: Modern Combat all online (single player on all these games is just a warm up for fragging people online), and SOCOM is by far the deepest and most entertaining one of them all. SOCOM single player is okay, and it's worth beating to get all the characters, weapons and especially the ghillie suits, but again, online is what it's all about. Get SOCOM 3 (&1&2)a network adaptor for your PS2, a headset (a must have) and a fast internet provider and GET ONLINE NOW! You won't regret it! The graphics, play, options, voice recognition are all great. They did a great job with this game. The only complaint I have is that once in a while there's a glitch where a teammate will get stuck to the scenery and will be unable to move. On one occasion, my team member was stuck under a wagon. Unable to do anything else with him, I shot him. Well, the rest of the team decided that they didn't like it and automatically opened up on me. In any case stuck characters are no fun, but the rest of the game rocks.

Socom 3 is my favorite title to play online. Pros: A good campaign, great online play that makes it worth the Playstation 2 system price alone. Cons: Controls are kinda hard with changing weapons and throwing grenades but other than that controls are good. Recomendations: I definatly recomend this title to anyone who owns a PS2. Notes: If you are trying to go online for the first time you will need to download the Socom 3 update, if it has an error the first time just try to download it again and overight the old download thats what worked for me. You will need space on your PS2 memory card for the update and Socom 3 online configuration.
