I bought this because I thought it would be cool. The communicator I got is the latest version. It is hit and miss always if it will work correctly. It’s really NOT USABLE. It worked properly on about 10% of tries. Sound quality is mediocre. Battery life is Atrocious. Magnet is strong. It will stay on your shirt. Bluetooth connection was easy. It simply appears to have a lot of bugs. Not worth the money. Avoid. Get the Wand Co communicator from TOS which works great.

I am a Trekkie and thought it would be cool to have a com badge that actually worked. don't get me wrong. I know it wouldn't work as clear as the shows ( since they aren't really real) but I expected a better sound quality out of it. I payed close to $50 for it ( which is less than they originally retailed for ) and just expected more.

Have this one and the first issue fametek produced. The battery drains faster with this version but gone are the random chirps. The heavier magnet is wonderful. Volume is louder than the first version but isn’t loud enough for calls. Music plays loudly. Wish voice calls were as loud. All in all a great and fun item especially if you eat, sleep and breath Star Trek!!
