This is a very entertaining book. It wasn't written as authoritative as I would have liked but I wasn't the author so I guess that's fine. I read the whole thing within a few hours after receiving it. It is very interesting to learn that Charles Darwin originally said that we evolved from worms. It was encouraging to see that so many holidays originated with the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster and later made their way into more mainstream religions to enjoy the blessings bestowed by his holy noodles. This is a fine book but it would probably make a lousy gift. The content could not be tolerated by too many people. I give it 4 stars instead of 5. I took one star off because of it's tone of blasphemy against the holy God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. A very good book even for devout Jews, Christians and Muslims. You really have nothing to lose. In the foreword of the book it states, "Go ahead. Try us for thirty days. If you don't like us, your old religion will most likely take you back. Unless it's the Jains, whose feelings easily hurt."Read full review
First off the stock photo used by most of the sellers is VERY misleading, even if it is accurate. The book isn't actually orange or red it is a white paper back with a picture of an orange or red book on the cover, so BUYERS BEWARE. The content of the book is good, but not exceptional. Personally I found the website to be far easier to read and use to find information. The author decided to put footnotes in the margin of the book page, thereby making the book a strange size. These "footnotes" also tend to be a little on the obvious and obnoxious side. I have not read any of the other "Holy Gospel of the FSM" books. Eventually I will give the others a try and hopefully not be as disappointed as I was with this book. I was really looking forward to a softcover pleather / plastic or the like - just like the ones a lot of the bibles use. If you have not yet heard of The Flying Spaghetti Monster and how his noodly appendage created the Universe go to the website and get an overview before going more creatively in depth with this book. Brilliantly written, The Gospel of the Flying Spaghetti Monster is one of the best example I know of, of satirical writing. Modeled after the Bible, the Gospel manages to make fun of almost every world religion, even Scientology. While it may be offensive to those with a strong religious background, for a person like me who has lost touch with religion, it is a great way to have an answer to the question, "So what denomination are you?" Again, if you consider yourself a religious person, don't buy this book. If you are looking for some laughs at the expense of others, then by all means read on. Oh, the picture can be deceiving. The book is not a red leather bound tome, but rather a paper back with a picture of a red leather tome on a white background. But other than that, the Gospel has the answer to everything, from global warming (a global decrease in the number of pirates) to the reason that Kiwi birds don't fly (it's because they lack the proper motivation.) My favorite part of the book is the "Eight I-Really-You-Rather-Didn'ts", the Pastafarian version of the Ten Commandments. While they are humorous in nature, they also extol Bobby Henderson's complaints with religions, mainly the way that religions force their views upon others, and intolerability of other races and creeds. If you have a critical perspective on religion, and are looking for a new way, why not give the Flying Spaghetti Monster a try. You will certainly be rewarded in the afterlife with a beer volcano. Now who doesn't want one of those. This is perhaps one of the best books on religion that I have ever read. Period. This is one of the funniest and most sarcastic takes on mainstream religion I've ever read. It can shoot down every crazy argument they have. You can take this book seriously and join the movement or you can have some fun and pass it on to a fundamentalist friend.

This book was a scream! We could not stop laughing, enjoying this purchase! My teenager is converting! lmao Bobby Henderson should write school books because my son has read it once and has remembered it all! How come kids can't do that with Homework? lol It's now on it's way to the sandbox where my husband is serving overseas. I think every soldier needs a good read to make them giggle. It's so well put together i had to keep reminding my son his actual faith, lol and be kind to little people, omg this book was worth it. I lose more money in Walmart on crap. Treat yourself to a fun read! It's better than anything you will leave in the bathroom too! lol Just buy it, don't judge it! Enjoy the hysterical logic and serious approach these people put together.
