I watched 'Combat' as a child and remembered loving it. I saw some reruns on the "American" channel and realized that it was a great series with many moral issues addressing war. The acting is fantastic. Vic Morrow was awesome. He made Sgt. Saunders believable and real. You feel the geniune bond of the 'squad' of soldiers. The actors knew their characters well and tell each story with honesty of the situations. The DVD's are very clear and look great. I have watched almost the entire 5 years now. I watch it everyday. It is more than 40 years old and still has the best action, drama, and morals. It is not bloody, or graphic and does not contain any foul language. It has so many lessons to teach. It has many extras: Photos, commentaries by directors, writers, actors, and a few interviews with the original cast, including Vic Morrow. It has some bloopers to watch for in the episodes. It has a documentary type extra with Vic Morrow introducing it and the narrator of the 'The Big Picture', about the beginnings of the Army Soldier. It has directors and actors from episodes that Vic Morrow directed discussing the directing style and 'unique ways' of Vic Morrow. The more you hear of Vic Morrow the more you realize he was under-rated. It is fun to start watching an episode and find the famous actors that didn't get titled as a guest star in the beginning. Frankie Avalon, Frank Gorshin, Chad Everett, Rip Torn, Paul Burke, Beau Bridges, James Caan, Richard Jackel, Leonard Nimoy, Lee Marvin, Eddie Albert, Dean Stockwell, Roddy McDowell and many, many others are in the episodes. I have always loved the theme music for 'Combat' and now my whole family can hum it too since they hear it everyday. I watch them over and over and see different things. I have found more bloopers than the blooper section states and it is fun to find them. I would love to see filmed bloopers 'not usable in the episodes' from the series but they may not exist. There are 5 sections (5 years) with 8 DVD's in each section. Most of the DVD's have 4 episodes on them and include extras. Watching 'Combat' is an emotional encounter with your ideals, past, and the human experience. I highly recommend it!Read full review
Combat! The Complete Series is one of the best collections you will ever find of America's greatest generation and how they survived, strategies, out thought and never gave up in battle against their opponents and against the odds. This WWII television drama. Vick Morrow and Rick Jason leads an incomparable list of guest stars. I bought it not only because it is a fantastic series and the theme song is cool but because my father and his four brothers served in WWII and the drama allows me to learn more about the inner workings of this modest generation of Americans.
I'm enjoying watching this series in sequence without missing an episode; this was impossible when I was a kid in the late 50's, early 60's since we didn't have a television until 1962 so I had to watch it at the neighbor's house. Despite all the improvements in film and television, this is still an excellent World War 2 series with top calibre actors. I think with all the negative things going on these days watching a collection like this allows me to relax and reflect on better days. Whether you enjoy the combat action, history, or the nostalgia of this era, this is a must have series!
I grew up the series and I used to watch it all the time so I could not wait to get the whole series to watch it when I wanted to.

This was my favorate show when I was a young child watching it on a black and white TV. Recently, I was on my computer and happened across a few episodes posted on youtube and decided to watch them. From then on I was hooked and had to have this full set in my collection. The actors (Vic Morrow, Rick Jason and many famous guest stars) are outstanding. Action packed with realistic scenes, but contains no profanity, nudity or graphic blood and guts as seen in todays movies and TV series. I love the way it was filmed, produced and directed and the theme song is great. The quality of the DVD's are clear and the sound is very good. Compared to most of the TV shows on today, the Combat series is far superior in entertainment, morals and good old American values. This set is great to own, as I can turn off the boring sitcoms and so called reality shows and relax watching real entertainment from the heyday of a real well written, directed and produced TV series.Read full review
