The film that was hailed "the best film of the year!" was probably the worst film I have seen this whole year. It starts off with a boy who has a problem with sucking his thumb, and how it is playing a role on his everyday lifestyle, then it leads on to how drugs will completely cure him of his woes of thumbsucking... So, he decides to take drugs, for a while these drugs do help him. Eventually, he will become a bit more leary about taking them, and eventually stops. This movie was nicely acted-- that is the only positive thing about this film. Overall, the plot is really thrown around a lot. Sometimes, you feel yourself looking at the clock seeing when this movie will end(at least I did). 2.4/5
This movie, honestly, was excellent. I thought I had all my favorite movies picked out until this one came along and replaced my original favorite. The realness of this movie and the problems just are so great and the movie really has the best soundtrack possible.
This story had many different elements going on at the same time so you really have to be on your toes when watching. Good stuff to bunched up maybe it would have been better as a mini series.
It takes one back to their child when many of us sucked our thumbs and the negative response we got from our parents. In the movie, he leaves for school and does the one taboo and doesn't care how people think of him - he continues to suck his thumb.
Thumbsucker is a great indie flick. It is laced with star that lift this ensemble cast. Basically this movie is a comming of age story. It's about finding yourself.... what else.
